Plan a "Play in the Clay" Day
Let's Have a Party!
Plan a party with your family or a few close friends and I will show you how to play in the clay. This special class requires a minimum of 4 but not more than 8 students. For only $25 each, you can make your own terra cotta clay fall leaf pot. That class fee includes all instruction, supplies, firing, and paint.
Each class is designed for the individuals who are attending. We will begin around 10 am on a Friday or Saturday morning. It adds to the fun when you plan to eat a sandwich together or bring a covered dish to share. We play in the clay for an hour or so and then the clay can begin to set up while we eat lunch. When everyone is ready, it is back to work. Usually we can complete this first step before 2 pm. The pot then needs to dry for about a week before it is fired the first time.
You can decide to come back as a group to apply the color and glaze to finish the project, or each person can come in during regular shop hours at their convenience. After the second firing your finished piece is ready for pick up.
What a great way to relax and enjoy the day. When you receive compliments from freinds and family (AND YOU WILL) you can proudly say, "I MADE THAT"!
Everyone starts with a lump of red clay, but then things begin to change. Each person is encouraged to use their individual personality as they work the clay and express themselves.
Each peice is a personal work of art.
This pot is made with fall leaves, but you can use many things to create the image you want. The possibilities are endless. It is amazing what you can do with a little time and imagination.
